Many Women have bladder control problems after they get their Menopause (stop having periods). When your periods end your body stops making as much of the female hormone estrogen as it did before. Estrogen may help to keep the lining of the bladder and the urethra healthy and the lack of estrogen could contribute to weakening of the bladder control muscles. When the bladder control muscles gets weaker urine can get pushed through these muscles from the pressure of coughing, sneezing or lifting.
